An eco-friendly luxury resort comprising beachfront residences and hotels, Tropicalia occupies an unspoiled site on the Dominican Republic’s Bay of Samaná.

The site experience provides two diverse conditions, the expansive horizon of the beach with the staccato rhythm of the giant palms that seem to reach for the water.

The project proposes an elevated walkway that strikes a strong datum against the rolling dunes and allows the beautiful landscape to remain almost untouched. Along this meandering path are the private treehouses and amenities, modern pavilions composed of simple geometries using the local wood and stone. Site specific artworks are interspersed throughout the property, positioned between the natural and manmade, transforming this lush setting into an unexpected gallery.
